Product Information The TC-5B is the brand new phono preamplifier for MM systems from Dynavox. It is used when a record player is to be operated on an amplifier without a phono input or when an amplifier’s internal phono connection does not meet the sound requirements. With phono preamplifiers, the extremely small signal from the turntable is amplified and equalized and thus prepared for connection to an amplifier. These signals are very sensitive to all kinds of interference signals, which can manifest themselves as annoying noise or hum. With the TC-5B, great value was placed on minimizing this interference in addition to the tonal properties. In addition to the well-shielded and high-quality metal housing with a solid 4 mm aluminum front and rear, the TC-5B has an external power supply to minimize interference. In addition, however, the TC-5B comes up with a top feature that is unusual in its price range, since it has the additional option of switching from power supply via mains adapter to power supply via battery operation (9V block). Depending on the turntable or the setup of the system, this can make a very big difference in sound. A standard alkaline 9V block (not included) is enough for around 40 hours of music enjoyment.
