The McGrey SP-100 is a stage piano with a comprehensive range of features that perfectly meets the needs of beginners. Are beginners eager to grapple with countless complicated, technical functions? No, of course not! That’s why the SP-100’s range of functions was deliberately reduced to a user-friendly, straightforward level, while still leaving plenty of scope for individual creativity. Does a beginner want a high-quality keyboard from the very beginning, equipped with hammer action and touch sensitivity, thus supporting authentic, dynamic, and expressive piano playing right from the start? Of course! And for precisely this reason, the SP-100 was designed with the high standards of a truly good keyboard in mind!

The be-all and end-all: high-quality keyboard with hammer mechanism

The SP-100 is equipped with a keyboard whose quality in this price range would otherwise be nothing but a pipe dream. The hammer-weighted keys provide a completely natural playing feel, as one would expect from an acoustic piano, thanks to the slight resistance created when the keys are struck. Furthermore, you can adjust the keyboard’s touch sensitivity to optimally suit your personal playing style. For younger beginners, for example, the touch may still be relatively soft, resulting in a somewhat subdued sound. If you select the “Soft” touch sensitivity, even a gentle keystroke will be rewarded with a full sound volume.

Especially for piano beginners, it’s especially important that their instrument is equipped with a headphone jack. As soon as headphones are connected to the SP-100, the sound comes only from the headphones, while the stage piano’s speakers are muted. This allows you to enjoy extended practice sessions at home whenever you want, without the risk of disturbing roommates or neighbors.

Practice, record, listen

The SP-100 features a recorder. This feature will not only help you track your playing progress, but also provide plenty of experimentation and fun! The recording function lets you record your piano playing on two independent tracks. This means you can play and record a piece on the first track. Then, you can play the first recording while simultaneously playing a second melody, which will then be recorded on the second track. This is a great way to practice your right and left hands separately, or to play four-hand pieces on your own! If needed, the digital piano’s integrated metronome will help you keep the tempo.

Reverb and Chorus

Reverb and Chorus allow you to add reverb and chorus effects of varying intensity to your playing. Both effects can be applied to any of the 8 available voices—piano, electric piano, harpsichord, vibraphone, classical guitar, organ, strings, and bass—and lend your piano playing a unique acoustic dimension.

Split and Layer

These modes allow you to combine two voices in different ways. While Split allows you to divide your keyboard into two sections and assign two different voices to these two sections—and thus to your left and right hands—Layer mode lets you play two voices simultaneously while you play a single key.

Sustain pedal

The sustain pedal causes the played notes to resonate or linger longer. Alternatively, you can also connect a soft pedal or a double soft/sustain pedal to the stage piano (not included).

MIDI/USB Out and Line In/Out

Using the MIDI and USB ports, MIDI data can be sent from the SP-100 to other MIDI-capable devices. Detailed explanations of the MIDI capabilities can be found in the owner’s manual included with the McGrey stage piano. The line-out jack allows you to connect external amplifiers, and the line-in jack allows you to integrate external playback devices into the SP-100. This allows you to play directly along with your favorite songs or backing tracks.
